L’une des premières micro-qualifications élaborées par la Communauté du Pacifique (CPS) a été dispensée avec succès par l’Université du Pacifique Sud. Le mois dernier, une première cohorte d’étudiants s’est vu décerner une micro-qualification portant sur l’exploitation d’une petite entreprise de produits de la mer. Cette micro-qualification complète est l’une des trois élaborées dans le cadre des activités novatrices du Programme de la CPS pour l’évaluation et la qualité de l’enseignement.

To encourage sustainable fishing and food security in ten villages in Beqa and Yanuca Islands, Fiji, ten druas have been provided to the communities and 25 members trained on how to build environmentally friendly canoes through a joint partnership between the University of the South Pacific (USP), under the Pacific – European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme, and the Uto Ni Yalo Trust.
The villages are Dakuibeqa, Dakuni, Lalati, Naceva, Nawaisomo, Naiseuseu, Soliyaga, Raviravi, Rukua and the Yanuca Islands.
Nine women are amongst the first 16 Pacific Islanders to have a Micro-Qualification in Maintaining Seafood Safety and Quality through scholarships offered by the University of the South Pacific (USP) under the Pacific-European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme.
The 16 awardees went through a two-week vigorous hands-on practical and theory assessment to equip them with necessary skills to improve seafood safety and quality from ‘hook to plate’, which ended today.
Suva, October 27th 2022: PhD Scholarship recipient of the Pacific-European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme at the Institute of Marine Resources (IMR), School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Ocean and Natural Sciences (SAGEONS), Mr Rufino Varea, presented his research findings at the Fiji Pharmaceuticals Society's Annual Conference held on Saturday 8th October.
To support Women in Fisheries Network- Fiji Call for Action the PEUMP Programme organised and facilitated a GESI training to build knowledge and understanding of WiFN-Fiji staff and community members on GESI concepts and how they relate to and matter in the fisheries sector.
The Women in Fisheries Network- Fiji works to facilitate networks and partnerships to enable opportunities for women to be informed about all aspects of sustainable fisheries and increase their meaningful participation in decision making and management opportunities in Fiji.
