Today, the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), the Pacific Community (SPC), the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and The University of the South Pacific (USP) signed a landmark agreement with the European Union to help promote sustainable management and sound ocean governance in the Pacific Region.

Suva, Fiji - Fifteen regional scholarship recipients of the University of the South Pacific (USP) Pacific -European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme today became the first batch to graduate with a micro-qualification in Establishing and Operating a Small Seafood Business in the Pacific.

L’une des premières micro-qualifications élaborées par la Communauté du Pacifique (CPS) a été dispensée avec succès par l’Université du Pacifique Sud. Le mois dernier, une première cohorte d’étudiants s’est vu décerner une micro-qualification portant sur l’exploitation d’une petite entreprise de produits de la mer. Cette micro-qualification complète est l’une des trois élaborées dans le cadre des activités novatrices du Programme de la CPS pour l’évaluation et la qualité de l’enseignement.

Key Result Areas

The programme covers six KRAs. Its overall management is coordinated by a Programme Management Unit (PMU) based in Suva, Fiji.
Four main agencies are implementing six programme KRAs through a multisectoral approach:

1) The Pacific Community (SPC), which is the lead agency for the programme and is responsible for its overall management,

2) the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA),

3) the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and

4) The University of the South Pacific (USP).
