The second Programme Steering Committee (PSC) meeting for/of the Pacific-European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme will provide members an update on the second year of implementation (1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020).
This is the first PEUMP Coordination Group (PCG) Meeting for 2024.
A GESI training will be conducted for staff members of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development in Kiribati. The training will include validation sessions from the findings and recommendations of the gender and fisheries assessment and will be led by the consultant Sangeeta Mangubhai in collaboration with Ms Margaret Fox, SPC GESI Adviser and Ms. Natalie Makhoul, the PEUMP Human Rights and Gender Specialist.

The workshop is co-funded by the Government of Australia and PEUMP. Technical and legal advisers are provided under the Pacific Maritime Boundaries Project, by Geoscience Australia.
• SPC/PMU to issue invitation to the EUD to attend
• PMU to draft speaking notes for EUD
• Issue a general Press Release on this given that there are multiple partners involved (EU, SPC, FFA, AG’s Office Aust etc). (TBC)
This will improve the accuracy of FFAs Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) to help fisheries enforcement, fisheries management and help combat IUU. FFA has an agreement with SPC to supply this data with PEUMP support.
